Be sure to set your clocks—in Kathmandu, you’re on Nepal Standard Time (NPT), which for most of the year is +12 hours and 45 minutes ahead of Pacific Time, and 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT / UTC. This is one of only three time zones on Earth with a 45-minute offset from standard GMT / UTC.

Trip Start

Our adventure begins on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Dwarika's Hotel (see Trip Overview) in Kathmandu, Nepal. Guests can arrive throughout the day, however we recommend that you arrive one day prior if possible in case of unforeseen travel delays, and to give your mind and body time to recover after some inevitable jet lag.

Arrival Airport

Nepal's only international airport is Kathmandu Tribhuvan International (KTM), on the outskirts of Kathmandu. There are currently no direct flights to KTM airport from either the United States or western Europe. Instead, you will likely connect through Istanbul (7hrs), Dubai (4 hrs), New Delhi (1 hr, 25min), Kuala Lumpur (4hr, 45min) or Tokyo (7hr, 25min).

Transfer from Airport

We will organize an airport transfer for all guests arriving at KTM airport to our hotel. Otherwise it's a quick 5-minute taxi from KTM airport to our Kathmandu hotel.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

If you plan to arrive in Kathmandu prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at Dwarika's Hotel (see Trip Overview), which where we are staying on the first two nights of our trip. Please contact the hotel directly to book, and let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure.

If Dwarika's Hotel is booked, we recommend the Kantipur Temple House in the central Thamel district; or Hotel Yak & Yeti near the royal palace. Both are comfortable boutique options in the heart of Kathmandu.

Trip End

We end our seventeen-day Nepal adventure on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Departure Airport

We recommend booking your outbound flights from Kathmandu Tribhuvan International (KTM), the same airport you arrived at.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day, we will organize complimentary group transfers to Kathmandu's KTM airport.

If you plan on departing Kathmandu at a later date, it is your responsibility to arrange transportation from your hotel to KTM airport.

Post-Trip Accommodations

We hope you have the opportunity to extend your stay in Nepal. If so, we recommend staying at Dwarika's Resort in Dhulikhel (see Trip Overview), just outside Kathmandu. Please note that any post-trip accommodations are your responsibility to book, and reservations can be made by contacting the hotel directly.
